Level 0 Engine: Procedural Liminal Space Simulator

SYS.VER 1.4.10

You are trapped in an infinite, shifting corporate facility.

There is an exit, but the building will not surrender it easily. You must navigate the labyrinth, restore power by finding localized surge breakers, and piece together the final truth of the facility's incident from scattered case files.

Trust your compass. Manage your charge. Don't look back.

> Controls

  • Left-Click: Engage Pointer Lock (Look around)
  • Right-Click (Hold): Kinematic Peek (Physically lean your camera around corners)
  • W, A, S, D: Move
  • Shift: Sprint (Burns Adrenaline if chased)
  • C: Crouch (Lowers detection radius)
  • Q: Squeeze (Compress your collision radius to slide through narrow cracks)
  • F: Toggle Flashlight (Consumes charge, expands detection radius)
  • E: Interact (Doors, keypads, documents, Surge Breakers)
  • Arrow Keys: Browse the recovered archive while a terminal is open (/ previous, / next)
  • T: Spray UV Decoy Breadcrumb (Mark your path and distract anomalies)
  • V (Hold): Close Eyes (Rapidly calms your nerves, but you're blind to everything while you do it)
  • X: Capture Asset (Take a screenshot)
  • J: Open Personal Journal (Amber PDA)
  • P: Raise/lower the Paintball Gun
  • M: Raise/lower the Threshold Compass
  • ESC: Release Pointer Lock / Rest

> How to Survive

The Flashlight & Sanity: The dark is dangerous. Unverified claims and roaming in pitch black will accumulate as tension, reducing your maximum flashlight charge. Settle claims to restore your sanity limit. If your psyche fractures past 50%, expect hallucinations.

The Anomaly: It hunts via line-of-sight and sound. It feeds on panic. The more exhausted you are, the faster it pursues. Catching it in your flashlight beam will freeze it in place, but it will anger it. If it catches you, reality will mutate and rebuild around a new cold case.

Sector Hazards: Different zones harbor unique threats. In the Incinerator, don't look away from the Ember. In the Archive, the Archivist drifts at a distance. Don't sprint at it. In the Impound, avoid the Warden's red searchlight. In the Servers, don't touch the live cables lit by the Backup Daemon. In the Atrium, keep moving through the aisles — linger too long without a shelf overhead and a mechanical claw drops from the ceiling to snatch you.

> Navigation & Objectives

Surge Breakers: To power the exit elevator, you must locate and engage three highly rare Dimensional Switches hidden in the labyrinth. Pulling a breaker plunges the sector into a pitch-black reboot sequence before stabilizing the grid.

The Radar vs Compass: The UI radar tracks objectives (like Surge Breakers) but refuses to tell you which way to go, merely reporting distance. Under intense Anomaly pressure, it will scramble. Press M to raise your Threshold Compass. It points strictly to the nearest sector transition door, helping you reorient when lost. However, once you have fulfilled all objectives and enter the Exit Phase, the compass overrides its basic function and points directly to the nearest undiscovered sector where the exit will manifest.

The Paintball Gun: A chunky, retro-FPS styled pistol raised into view with P. Stripped down to a minimalist, floating aesthetic where only the barrel, slide, and hammer are visible, keeping the central screen free of distracting hand or grip geometry.

The Paper Trail: The facility generated a unique cold case just for you. Find notes, laptops, and tapes to unravel it (key items now emit a localized glow to help you spot them in the dark). Unverified documents burden your mind. You must corroborate claims by finding matching evidence in entirely different sectors. Press J at any time to review your PDA journal.

> System Operation

Boot Sequence & Persistence: Upon initializing the engine, you will be presented with a terminal prompt. Select Continue Session to resume exactly where you left off, preserving your current run and inventory. Select Purge & Start New Game to wipe all memory caches and generate a fresh reality.

Performance & Aesthetics: The engine features a heavily optimized boot sequence and fixed lighting pool to maintain performance. By default, FXAA (anti-aliasing) is disabled to enhance the retro VHS pixelation and boost GPU fill-rate. You can adjust this and other visual parameters in the Settings panel (Tab).

> The Endgame

The Exit Threshold: The extraction bunker only manifests once all three sector breakers are thrown and you are carrying the elevator release key, which is locked in a records room (requires keypad code deciphered via your clues). Once you have these, the exit will dynamically construct itself in the next unvisited sector you approach.

The Inquest: The elevator does not descend freely. The terminal demands the Finding of Fact. You must submit the correct verdict (1, 2, or 3) based on the evidence you've verified across the sectors. File the truth to escape; file wrong, and the void takes you.
